Tutorial: Use your custom avatar on other blogs
Everytime I post a comment on someone elses blog, I get that generic grey icon. I was always under the impression that you had to sign up or become a member of their site to use your own icon. We’ll, thats just not true.
This video is a tutorial on how to create and use your own custom avatar that you can use whenever you post a comment on someones site. Best yet, it’s EASY and its FREE. Cool Hunh?
Once you create your avatar, feel free to leave a comment below to test it out. I am going to be opening the blog for a few days to automatically allow all comments, so expect the occasional spam.
Important Note: I just noticed that the default accepted avatar on Wordpress is “G” rating. So if you want to make sure your avatar shows up on all blogs, make sure the pic is clean, and has a G rating. Otherwise, by default, your avatar will not show up on most Wordpress blogs.
If you have any questions, just drop a comment below and I will see what I can do to help you out.
PS. I’ll try to get back to posting vids a bit more often. I’ve been in the middle of cranking out a fairly lengthy series on Marketing in different phases of the product and industry lifecycle. Once that is a little more under control, I’ll post some more vids.
JJ

Hey Great video tutorial! Do you think blogs you have posted to in the past with the same e-mail, will automatically add the avatar?
Thanks
Gregg

Thanks. And in answer to your question, as long as you used the same address before that you used to sign up on your gravatar, it should be retroactive. I checked a few blogs I posted on before and the icon is now up.
Enjoy!

There were a few problems with my blog auto-accepting posts. Should be all set now. Sorry for any issues.
I will be disabling this feature in a few days to keep the spam out. You’ll just have to wait a little bit before your posts are approved.

Your site does not correctly work in safari browser

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll look into it. However, seeing that IE and Firefox make up 99% of my viewers, those will have to be the priority
